Stephen Curry’s knack for scoring in every way possible is well-documented.
It shouldn’t take people by surprise when he does the improbable or scores at will. And yet, that’s what happened Thursday night when he had one of, if not the best first quarters of his career.
With the Warriors taking on the Clippers in Golden State’s home opener, Curry scored 25 points on 9-for-9 shooting, including five 3-pointers, in the opening period. The 25 points tied for the most he has scored in a first quarter and were just three shy of the most he has scored in any quarter.
It also was Curry’s eighth career quarter with 25 or more points. Since 1996-97, the next-closest player in that span is Kobe Bryant, who had four such quarters. No other active player has three 25-plus point quarters.
With Curry starting out perfect, of course people took notice.
Here are some of the best reactions to Curry’s career quarter from around the sport.
LeBron James, Lakers forward
Ja Morant, Grizzlies point guard
Damian Lillard, Trail Blazers point guard
Paige Bueckers, UConn point guard
Robert Williams, Celtics forward/center
Michael Carter-Williams, Magic point guard
