Tom Brady backed to get Nick Foles revenge as Buccaneers and Bears collide

Former New England Patriots linebacker coach Rob Ryan is backing Tom Brady to get revenge over Nick Foles tonight.

Foles got the better of Brady at Super Bowl 52 as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33.

The two star quarterbacks are now at different franchises with Brady padding up for Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Foles with Chicago Bears.

Both teams are 3-1 this season with Brady in his debut campaign in Florida, and Sky Sports pundit Ryan has praised the veteran QB.

“It’s going to be a great game,” Ryan told Daily Star Sport ahead of Thursday Night Football.

“Foles, here’s the weird thing, he’s 0-5 as a starter since winning that Super Bowl. He’s always been such a terrific quarterback to bring in off the bench but he’s record as a starter recently is strange.

“Brady has really got the Buccaneers playing well. All the little things that kept that team from winning before – they’re playing really good defence, they’re not turning the ball over much on offence, they’re doing great on third downs, great in the Red Zone.

“All those things are what Brady brings, he’s such a leader, he creates that winning culture and it’s really changed how Tampa wins the game.

  • Chicago Bears fans believe Mitch Trubisky’s career is over despite beating Falcons

“That one player makes a difference. He’s a quarterback. The way he works, everyone sees it, they watch him. There is not a player more committed to the success of any team than Tom Brady.”

Foles has become the Bears starter QB having replaced Mitch Trubisky in Week 3.

The former Super Bowl winner couldn’t maintain the Bears winning record as they lost to Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, and Ryan believes another loss is on the cards against Brady’s Bucs.

He added: “They paid Foles $20m a year not to sit on the bench and didn’t give Trubisky his fifth-year option so the writing was on the wall.

“They played the No 1 defence in football last week and it showed, Foles struggled mightily in that game but I think he will do better.

“They have a good defence too but I think Tom Brady will be a little too much with the Buccaneers.”
