Carl Froch is on the brink of announcing his return to the boxing ring, with the Cobra expected to face Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition contest.
Froch retired from professional boxing following his victory over George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Arena, and has since had a successful career with Sky Sports as a boxing pundit.
However, with more and more professional boxers coming out of retirement to compete in exhibition bouts, Froch was approached and asked whether he would be interested in one final fight. Froch discussed this in a recent appearance on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan.
“Listen, we’ve been approached by a company – I won’t say who it is yet.
“They’re trying to set up one of these fights like when Roy Jones fought Mike Tyson – actually classed as an exhibition contest.
“But if I go in there and it does work out that it happens, I ain’t gonna be taking any punches on my new nose let me tell you.
“I won’t be getting that flattened.”
In a separate interview in May, Froch revealed his excitement at potentially competing again, even in an exhibition bout with 12oz gloves, and claimed even with the larger gloves, he could still cause some serious damage.

“This isn’t real professional boxing, it’s not 12x3minute rounds with 10oz gloves.
“I think the gloves are 12oz, so they still hurt.
“I used to spar in 16oz and knocked my sparring partners out on a regular basis.
“It’s an 8x2minute rounds formula and I think it’s a chance for legends in the game – people who can’t compete at world level again – to get in there, demonstrate their skills and have a bit of fun as well.
“But the problem is it could get a little bit naughty.
“If Roy Jones hits me with a jab on the nose and I’m thinking, ‘Ow, that hurt,’ I’m gonna be looking to land an uppercut.
“It could all get out of hand.”
Froch and Jones Jr. both had exceptional professional careers, and a bout between the two, even at this stage in their respective careers, is a mouth-watering prospect. There also seems to be a genuine rivalry between the two.

In a recent interview with iFL TV, Jones Jr. said “Carl Froch says I’m shot to bits. Well okay, show me. Show me I’m shot to bits.
“I don’t care, show me that I’m shot to bits. Wembley Stadium. 80, 100,000, I don’t care. Show me that I’m shot to bits. When you get right, come and see me.”
