Deontay Wilder brutally savaged by his sacked former trainer Breland

Deontay Wilder’s sacked trainer Mark Breland brutally takes aim at the Bronze Bomber, slamming his training methods, saying he has no jab and that he’s ‘only got his power and we’ll see how far that takes him’

  • He has finally hit back by insisting that Wilder cannot jab and is ‘finished’

Deontay Wilder’s sacked coach Mark Breland has ridiculed the heavyweight’s training methods and insisted he has got ‘no jab’ in a savage put down.

Wilder decided to axe Breland after he chucked in the towel in the seventh round of his brutal defeat at the hands of Tyson Fury last February.

The ex-heavyweight champion was hugely critical of Breland after he was stripped of his WBC world title and blamed him for prematurely stopping the contest despite having already been floored twice and Fury’s dominance in the fight.

Over the past 12 months Wilder has also come up with a long list of elaborate excuses for his first professional defeat, claiming that Fury had cheated by either putting his fist in an improper position or had concealed a hard object in his gloves.

– Breland won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles

– He is a two-time WBA welterweight world champion

– The American ended his pro career with 35 wins, 3 defeats and 1 draw

– Had worked with Wilder since he turned pro and helped guide him to the WBC heavyweight world title

He also said his ring costume was too heavy and claimed his water was spiked with muscle relaxers before the fight, potentially by his own co-trainer Breland.

Former world champion Breland, who has been training Wilder along with Jay Deas since he turned over to the pro ranks in 2008, had remained quiet but has now finally hit back at the Bronze Bomber and his accusations.

‘With Deontay and I, that’s a part of boxing I guess. His career is done now, so, I’m done and he’s done. I’m done with him,’ he told the The Fight Is Right.

‘One thing you all like to say [about Wilder] is that, he’s got a lot of power and that’s all. I wish him well and that’s it. Only got his power and we’ll see how far that takes him, that’s all I’m going to say.’

When asked to comment on Wilder’s level of opposition to date, Breland again took aim.

‘If I boxed the guys he boxed, I’d beat them. That’s the bottom line,’ he added.  ‘You say he had some “good wins”? Luis Ortiz was a good win. Just that fight, that was it.’

Breland laid into Wilder further by mocking his fighting ability and training regime. After being asked if Wilder has a jab, he replied: ‘No.

‘He used the jab one time in that fight with Bermane Stiverne. That was it,’ before adding: ‘He never hit the bag [in training]. He doesn’t hit the speed bag.

‘He doesn’t jump rope, he doesn’t hit the speed bag and he doesn’t hit the heavy bag.’

Wilder has not fought since losing against Fury but is still hoping of landing the trilogy bout despite his rival being close to reaching an agreement to fight Anthony Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
