Jake Paul has beaten Tyron Woodley by split decision to preserve his unbeaten status as a professional boxer.

But the 4-0 fighter has resisted the temptation to answer Tommy Fury's earlier callout in the evening by hinting at a potential rest from the sport.

For the first time in his time in the ring, the Youtube sensation was given his biggest test when Woodley rocked him in the fourth round.

However, he recomposed and went on to put on a fine display to prevent his countryman from landing any further serious punches.

It saw Paul leave his hometown Ohio with scores of 77-75, 75-77 and 78-74.

Woodley went into the bout as an underdog but was given more of a chance than Paul’s last opponent Ben Askren, who was knocked out in the first round.

Though Jake ultimately came through the contest relatively unscathed, this was the first time that he had gone the distance.

In his first three bouts, the Problem Child emerged victorious via knockout.

But this was as close to defeat as the 24-year-old has come, with many stunned by the fact it went down to a split decision.

Earlier in the night, Fury had laboured to victory over Pau's sparring partner Anthony Taylor.

However, after claiming the win he went on to demand a fight against Paul next – something the YouTube star did not immediately agree to.

He said: "Honestly, we'll see. I've been boxing for 18 months now. I haven't been to the dentist, I barely got my hair cut in the last two years.

"My teeth are crooked, my nose is crooked. I've dedicated the last 18 months to this.

"I haven't stopped, I think I might need to chill out for a second and figure out who I am.

"I'm only 24, I'm changing, I'm growing, I'm learning a lot. I'm going through ups and downs and I'm making mistakes.

"I'm going through ups and downs. But I'm keeping my head straight and we'll see."

Fury, who was making his US debut, said earlier: “It wasn't my best performance. But I'm getting better, I'm trying my best.

“Looking at that, Jake should have an easy night, there are no excuses, I want you next you bum, let's get it on."
