Floyd Mayweather can make his money-spinning exhibition fight with Logan Paul ‘dangerous’ for the Youtube star, Oleksandr Usyk has warned.
Mayweather, who has a 50-0 undefeated record, will take on the 25-year-old in February. Paul has had only two professional fights and was beaten by fellow social media star KSI 13 months ago.
Despite being an exhibition match, knockouts will be allowed and Mayweather is said to be taking the fight very seriously. Usyk admitted the 43-year-old could make the clash dangerous for Paul.
Oleksandr Usyk says Floyd Mayweather can make his fight with Logan Paul ‘dangerous’
The Youtube star has had two professional fights and was beaten by KSI 13 months ago
Speaking to SunSport, the heavyweight said: ‘As for whether it is dangerous, I think that if a boxer relaxes and gets hit it may be dangerous for him.
‘Mayweather should be composed and play his game until the end. If he wants to it may be dangerous and if he doesn’t it will be okay.’
The match up has drawn plenty of criticism from the boxing world due to the contrasting careers of the two fighters.
Usyk described the fight as ‘business’ and a good way for both fighters to make money
Paul is four stone heavier than Mayweather and stands six inches taller.
Mayweather has not stepped in the ring since his 2018 exhibition against Japanese kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa – who he wiped out in the first round.
But Usyk believes the fight is merely ‘business’ and a good way of making money.
He said: ‘I think it is just business because Floyd Mayweather has made a name for himself, he has gone to the top of his career, so now everybody wants to box the champions.
‘Nobody wants to spar with a random guy from the street. Everybody wants to fight the champions.
Mayweather is said to be taking his training and preparation for the fight very seriously
‘There is a lot of money for them in it, so why not? It is great if they are making money this way.’
Solomon Engel, the fight’s promoter and founder and CEO of Fanmio, told The Sun that Mayweather is not taking his preparation for the fight lightly.
‘I think Floyd is going to have fun with it but he’s taking it very seriously,’ he said/
‘Floyd trains extensively and I don’t think he’s going to go into this fight and not be prepared. He’s very excited for the fight.
‘He sees some big opportunities here, and I don’t want to speak for him but I think we all feel this could be a very historical fight and a number of different levels.’
