McGregor demands the UFC should create new 'Richest Motherf*****' belt

Conor McGregor wants the UFC to create two new belts as ex-champion calls for ‘Richest Motherf*****’ strap alongside title taking his name

  • Conor McGregor has told the UFC to award a belt to the fighter with most money
  • The former two-weight ‘champ champ’ is also calling for a strap named after him
  • Rubies and emeralds would feature on the title handed to the richest competitor
  • McGregor and foe Dustin Poirier will land a whopping payday for their third bout

Conor McGregor has told the UFC to create another new title honouring the wealthiest fighter in the sport ahead of his trilogy scrap with Dustin Poirier.

Former two-weight champion McGregor showed off a potential design for a strap named after him earlier this month – and now he wants one signifying the competitor with the most money.

In his latest Twitter announcement, McGregor said: ‘Let’s do two belts, actually. Champ Champ always does two.

Conor McGregor earned both the UFC lightweight and featherweight belts at UFC 205 in 2016

McGregor lost against Dustin Poirier in January and is due to fight him a third time on July 10

‘We’ve got “The McGregor Belt” currently in creation, and now we’ve got the all-new “RMF” belt.

‘”The Richest Motherf***** Belt”. This way we can put both the rubies and the emeralds to good use.’

McGregor has the highest net worth of any UFC fighter by a considerable distance, eclipsing the likes of Poirier and unbeaten former lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov with an estimated value of nearly £200million.

That figure was swelled by the 32-year-old reportedly agreeing to sell his stake in his whiskey brand, Proper Twelve, for £112m last month.

Tickets for McGregor’s bid to repeat his win against Poirier in 2014 have sold for up to $10,000

He has not held a title since being beaten by Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018, losing the lightweight belt that he won in his previous fight, against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November 2016.

Nate Diaz, who McGregor lost to and beat in 2016, said his former rival came across as desperate by suggesting the new belts.

Diaz told the UFC on Twitter: ‘Go ahead and make this little b**** a belt or two with rubies or whatever he wants on it.

‘I think he really needs it. I need his confidence high so he can do well, so go ahead and make the belt if you would like too. And go out there and get them, champ.’

McGregor’s third meeting with Poirier, which is scheduled for July 10, appears to be on again despite the Irishman announcing on social media that the fight was cancelled over a charitable donation row earlier this week.
