Finally a superfight is made! Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis confirm 136lb catchweight fight is a ‘DONE DEAL’… with the ‘career defining bout’ set to take place in Las Vegas in April next year

Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis have confirmed they will take to the ring in April 2023 to face each other in a highly anticipated 136lb catchweight fight. 

The boxers took to social media to announce the 12-round contest – claiming their representatives had finally completed a deal after lengthy discussions. 

The fight will take place in Las Vegas – the historic home of boxing’s ‘greatest grudge matches’ – and will be aired on Showtime Pay-Per-View main event.

Davis announced the news by Tweeting: ‘I’ll be back in the ring Jan 7 stay tuned for more details! After that it’s me and Ryan signed sealed delivered…done deal!’.

While Garcia said: ‘Boxing NEEDS this fight right now. It’s time for us to get back to what made this sport so great for the fans: Glamorous fights in places like Las Vegas, grudge match storylines, and most importantly — the best fighting the best.’ 

When speaking about the upcoming fight, Stephen Espinoza – President of Showtime Sports – said: ‘Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia is one of the biggest and most exciting fights that can be made in boxing. 

‘We have two supremely talented boxers, both in their prime, who have amassed huge fanbases, meeting in a career defining fight. 

‘This is the epitome of a crossover boxing event. All credit to Tank and Ryan for staying the course and giving the fans the fight they want.

‘SHOWTIME has delivered the three biggest pay-per-view events in television history and we are thrilled to add this marquee event to our list of culture-moving matchups.’

Davis, who has a 27-0 record, has been compared to Mike Tyson for his thunderous punching

Meanwhile, Oscar De La Hoya said: ‘The fans have been crystal clear that the fight they want is Ryan versus Tank. 

‘Golden Boy Promotions and I are proud to be leading the drive to get this fight signed and are excited to get a deal finalized ASAP. 

‘It’s high time that those outside the ring stop getting in the way of those who want nothing more than to get into the ring and fight.

Garcia is just 24 years old and is known as The Flash because of his impressive speed

The location of the fight has not yet been disclosed but it is expected to take place at a venue in Washington, D.C in April 2023. 

Garcia, also known as The Flash because of his speed, is a 24-year-old fighter with a 23-0 professional record, all but four of those coming via knockout.

Meanwhile Davis, 27, has been compared to Mike Tyson because of his thunderous boxing style. He has won all 27 of his fights so far, 25 of those by knockout too.
