UFC fighter Ramiz Brahimaj had his ear nearly ripped off his head in a gruesome injury.
It was so bad that even his opponent Max Griffin apologised to him for causing such a horrific incident.
It occurred at UFC's Las Vegas 13 as Brahimaj made his debut in the sport in a welterweight clash.
During the third round, an early flurry of punches from Griffin saw him caught in a clinch with his rival.
Commentators noticed straight away that something had gone wrong, spotting a brutal elbow that caught Brahimaj.
The referee quickly ended the contest with the 27-year-old gushing blood.
“His ear is literally falling off his head right now,” Dominick Cruz said in commentary.
“Mind-blowing. That’s how dangerous this is, it’s not a game what we’re doing here.”
After the contest, even Griffin had been grossed out by the injury and apologised to his opponent.
“In the first round, I was trying to find my distance, but he did well at sliding out and my right was missing,” he said.
“But I started having some more fun and having range and opening up.
“I think his ear fell out of his head. I‘m sorry for that. It was bad, bro.
“I just needed volume, and once the volume started coming, the last thing I remember was I looked back at his ear like, ‘Oh, it’s over.”
The fight quickly went viral on social media, with a number of fans shocked by the gruesome nature of the injury.
One said: "I just watched a UFC fighters ear damn near fall off. I'm not going to repost it."
While another wrote: "Just watched someone’s ear come off in the ufc. There goes my appetite for the year."
