UFC star rushed to hospital after injury sees her lose ‘big chunk’ of head

A horrific injury to Julianna Pena at UFC 277 could spell the end of the Venezuelan Vixen's career.

Pena lost a 'big chunk' of her head after she took several strikes to the skull, leaving her bloodied in the octagon. Pena continued in the bout – which she lost via decision to Amanda Nunes – before being taken to hospital to check on her wound.

And speaking after the bout, Dana White admitted that it could be the final time YFC fans get to see Pena in the octagon. White advised Pena to rest up after her women’s bantamweight belt clash.

White said: "Julianna's got a big chunk missing from her forehead. She's going to see a plastic surgeon right now."

He then added: "It takes some time to heal and then I don't know. She got pretty banged up tonight, she got five or six knockdowns in the first two rounds.

"She was hurt. She needs to take some time off, relax, spend some time with her daughter and then we will go from there."

She said in her post-match interview: "We are here making history again. Double champion again baby. Let's go."
