Tony Finau celebrated first PGA Tour win in five years with 3:00am McDonald’s meal

Golfer Tony Finau revealed he celebrated his first PGA Tour win in over five years by enjoying a McDonald’s meal at 3:00am. The American clinched only his second ever Tour title by winning the opening FedEx Cup play-off at the Northern Trust, after defeating Australian Cameron Smith in a one hole play-off after the pair tied on 20-under-par for the tournament.

Following his historic win, Finau has since revealed that the one way he chose to celebrate his first win since 2016 was to enjoy a meal from McDonald’s in the early hours of the morning, following his win on Monday afternoon.

Ahead of this week’s second FedEx Cup play-off at the BMW Championship, the 31-year-old told reporters all about his post-event celebrations, which included a post-round meal as well as his early morning fast food fix.

Finau said: “We went to Ruth’s Chris after I left the course with my manager, my caddie and my coach Boyd, and we had a meal. We finished, leaving there about 11:00 [pm].”

Following his victory however, it seemed the Northern Trust champion was unable to contain his excitement as he was unable to sleep throughout the night.

Therefore Finau of course opted to treat himself to a hefty order from the famous fast food chain.

He added: “Then about 3:00 a.m. came around after returning some messages, talking to some family, and then Boyd and I got hungry again so we went to McDonald’s about 3:00 a.m. and got some fast food.”

And of course the one question everyone wanted to know is what does a PGA Tour title winner order from McDonald’s?

He revealed: “I ordered a Big Mac, I had a Double Quarter Pounder With Cheese and then 10 chicken nuggets…large fry, Oreo McFlurry and a bottle of water.”

The American also confirmed he had no issue finishing his large order, adding: “I had no problem cleaning all of it up.”

Despite the fast-food treat in the early hours, the 31-year-old admitted it was straight back to work despite the late night celebration, as he prepared for the second FedEx Cup play-off at this week’s BMW Championship at Caves Valley.

He commented: “I was back up at 8:00am. I worked out in the morning and then I shot my way over here [to the BMW Championship].”

Finau will be hoping to maintain his winning form from the Northern Trust in Maryland this week, as he looks to cement his place at the top of the FedEx Cup standings ahead of next week’s finale at the Tour Championship.
