Aaron Rodgers’ resemblance to old, late-1800s lookalike photo is uncanny

Someone not paying close attention may have wondered why the Packers’ Week 15 broadcast was showing a black-and-white photograph of Aaron Rodgers.

The answer? It wasn’t Rodgers at all. Rather, it was a photograph from the late-1800s or early-1900s depicting a man with his wife. The man just bore a striking resemblance to Rodgers, enough to call him a lookalike or a doppelganger.

Here’s the man in question, side by side with Rodgers:

The photograph surfaced recently on Ebay, where it received 20 bids and eventually sold for $202.50. The seller, Troy Woitas, told the Green Bay Press Gazette that he didn’t know who the people in the photograph were.

“I found this at an auction mixed in with other vintage pictures at Harry Lahr Auctions in Earlville, Iowa,” Woitas told the Press Gazette in an email. “Being a sports fan, I recognized the resemblance to Aaron Rodgers.”

This isn’t the first time Rodgers has been mentioned with the word doppelganger. Actor Tom Wigglesworth bears a great resemblance to Rodgers, and the actor traveled to Green Bay to meet Rodgers in 2014. It seems unlikely that the unidentified man in this newly surfaced photograph will be able to travel to meet Rodgers.

Rodgers doesn’t always rock his mustache the way the man in the photograph has it. Lately, Rodgers has gone with the full beard look. But maybe this newest lookalike will inspire Rodgers to break the ‘stache back out.
