Lando Norris has taken it upon himself to clear up some suggestions about his wave to Daniel Ricciardo as he lapped him during the Monaco Grand Prix.
Norris was seen waving to his McLaren team-mate as the Brit lapped him on the streets of Monaco, with some fans and news outlets suggesting something more sinister in the gesture.
The Australian struggled on all three days in the principality, qualifying in 12th before finishing the race in the same position.
His team-mate however thrived in Monte Carlo, and in a stark contrast finished in third, 19 seconds behind winner Max Verstappen, adding a third Formula One podium to his name.
But as Norris lapped Ricciardo during the race, he waved to his team-mate as a ‘cheers’ after blue flags were waved to let the faster car through.
At the time former F1 driver and Sky Sports analyst Martin Brundle said “I have a tear in my eye here for Daniel Ricciardo.

“That’s an ouch moment isn’t it. It hurts for Daniel Ricciardo.”
And despite clearing up the nature of the gesture after the race, there were some still speculating what it meant, and if it was a clear stamp from Norris about who was boss at the team.
However Norris took to his Twitch stream to put the record absolutely straight once and for all, and rubbished any claims of wrongdoing.
“All right, so I see so many of you make up absolute crap and nonsense as usual,” Norris said.
“By the way, any time someone lets me pass for a blue flag, anyone, if they get out of the way properly and they should, I put my hand up and say thanks, all right?

“I did it to freaking everyone; Mazepin, Schumacher, Danny…
“Whoever I passed and they got out of the way, I put my hand up and say thanks.
“So, don’t just notice one when I passed Danny and think I’m doing something that is not right.
“Let me just get that point across because I see a lot of stories that people make up.”
Norris currently sits third in the driver’s standings, with his team-mate Ricciardo down in eighth, 32 points away from the Briton.
Speaking after the race, Ricciardo was still pleased for McLaren and his team-mate, but admitted it was a bad day in the office.
“Obviously car four [Lando Norris] and the rest of the team got a podium, so I obviously want to congratulate them and they got it right,” said Ricciardo.
“I don’t even know if it was we got it wrong, it just never really got going. We didn’t really do a crazy different set-up, the cars I want to say were nearly identical from a set-up point of view.
“This year there has certainly been those races where it is like ‘yeah I’ve got to find a bit more but it will come’, I mean this weekend was more of an anomaly with such a big difference.
“Getting lapped [by Norris], might be the first time [by a team-mate], I don’t really know what to say.”
