5 Jadon Sancho transfer alternatives as Man Utd miss Borussia Dortmund deadline

Manchester United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho has taken a twist after the deadline date set by Borussia Dortmund passed.

The Germans has told potential suitors that any deal for their prized asset had to be concluded by August 10.

Sancho has subsequently jetted off with the Bundesliga outfit as they begin pre-season preparations making United's quest that bit more challenging.

Dortmund have already made it clear that they will now lower their valuation of the player, which already stands at over £100m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add a forward this summer and may have to start devising a list of alternatives which could include the following names.

Douglas Costa

The Juventus winger has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the wake of their Sancho deadline passing.

Costa has spent the last three years in Turin but has found opportunities hard to come by this term.

He remains a quality operator having been signed by Pep Guardiola during his time at Bayern Munich.

His pace and direct style of play fits perfectly into the philosophy Solskjaer is looking to embed in Manchester.

Kingsley Coman

The Bayern star has been pushed further down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena following Leroy Sane's arrival.

He has already been linked with a loan move away from the German champions and is another play who looks ready made for United.

Whilst his physical attributes are impressive it is also worth noting that the Frenchman has won the league title in every single year as a professional.

Spells at PSG, Juventus and now Bayern prove he will not be intimidated by the big stage or hefty expectations.

Jack Grealish

The Aston Villa star could well be on the move this summer despite his boyhood club securing their top flight status on the season's final day.

Grealish was a standout in a side that struggled for last periods, scoring 10 times to make him Villa's top scorer.

He often played for a wide position and was given the license to roam in an effort to influence the game.

Grealish may also help relieve some of the pressure on Bruno Fernandes given his creative flair.

Rabbi Matondo

The teenager star is one of a growing number of players to be applying his trade in the Bundesliga.

Matondo has already earned international recognition with Wales having made his debut almost two years ago.

The 19-year-old has scored twice in 20 outings for the German side who struggled for much of the season.

United may see Matondo as a far cheaper option than Sancho given his mammoth price tag.

Said Benrahma

Part of Brentford's much hailed front three is likely to be a man in demand this summer.

Alongside Ollie Watkins and Bryan Mbuemo the Frenchman scored 17 times as the Bees narrowly fell short of promotion.

Benrahma has never played in the top flight, but has all the attributes to suggest he will be able to step up seamlessly.

United signed Dan James from Swansea last summer which shows they have no reservation of signing a second tier player if he ticks all the boxes.
