Mason Mount has shown Chelsea’s dressing room spirit remains strong despite a monumental week of change at Stamford Bridge.

Manager Frank Lampard was surprisingly sacked by the Blues after just 18 months in charge.

Lampard had been a huge advocate for Mount, elevating him into the first-team following a successful loan stint at Derby County two seasons ago which culminated to his international call-ups with England.

But Mount must prove himself now to new boss Thomas Tuchel, who this week took over the reigns in west London.

The former PSG head coach left Mount out of his first starting XI for the midweek 0-0 Premier League draw at home to Wolves.

However, the England midfielder impressed in a 10-minute cameo and will be hoping to convince the German to start him this Sunday lunchtime when Chelsea entertain Burnley.

And Mount, 22, is showing that his spirits are upbeat behind the scenes despite the change in management.

In a new video filmed inside the Blues’ Cobham training base with the club’s lead sponsors Three, Mount takes on YouTube star Chunkz in a game of FIFA 21.

Mount reveals that while it pains him to say it, there is one player who takes the crown as Chelsea’s finest footballing gamer: Tammy Abraham.

“Honestly, it really hurts me to say but it’s Tammy,” said Mount, who fancies himself as a gamer.

“I’ve said it a couple of times. But he’s the best.”

As part of a forfeit for conceding a goal, Chunkz took Mount’s phone to send a message direct to the Chelsea players’ WhatsApp group – and Abraham was the man leading the response.

It read: “Hi lads, I want a new look for 2021. I want a beard but nothing is working, any tips?”

England striker Abraham quickly replied with a picture of his own facial hair, saying: “Mason, go to sleep.”

Fikoyo Tomori, who recently joined AC Milan on loan, added: “Tammy can’t give you any tips bro.”

Mount’s attitude on and off the field has seemingly already won him admiration from new boss Tuchel.

Speaking at a press conference earlier this week, the German insisted the midfielder has a big part to play in his plans.

“I like what I have seen from Mason so far, his personality is amazing, he is such a nice guy, such a competitive guy, with such a lot of talent,”

“Most importantly, every game I have watched so far he has left his heart on the pitch, he cares for Chelsea 100 per cent, he gives 100 per cent every time he plays, and this is the best basis for big development.

“I’m very happy to have him around and I will not stop pushing him, I will not stop guiding him and I will not stop trusting him. There is nothing to worry about.”
