Eleven Ajax players have tested positive for coronavirus one day before the club’s Champions League game against FC Midtjylland.
As a result, only 17 Ajax players will travel to Denmark for the group-stage clash.
On Monday, the Eredivisie champions released a statement that read: “Ajax will travel to Denmark with 17 players for the game against FC Midtjylland.
“Kjell Scherpen and Brian Brobbey, among others, will be present.
“There will be a press conference on Monday at 6.45pm (CET), where Erik ten Hag and Perr Schuurs will speak to the media. FC Midtjylland – Ajax starts on Tuesday evening at 9pm (CET).
“Squad: Scherpen, Schuurs, Mazraoui, Blind, Martinez, Tagliafico, Klaiber, Timber, Alvarez, Ekkelenkamp, Neres, Antony, Promes, Traore, Huntelaar, Brobbey, Jensen.”
In their Champions League opener at home to Liverpool last month, Ajax were defeated 1-0. Ten Hag’s men followed that result with a 2-2 draw at Atalanta.
Midtjylland, meanwhile, opened their account for this season’s edition of the competition with a 4-0 home defeat by Atalanta before losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.
