Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and his Leicester City counterpart Brendan Rodgers are both reportedly keen on Southampton star Mohamed Elyounoussi. The Premier League rivals are set to lock horns over the 27-year-old, who has impressed for club and country this season and will enter the final year of his contract with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in next summer’s transfer window.

Elyounoussi helped the Saints to a 1-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday, having scored both goals in Norway’s 2-0 victory over Montenegro last Monday.

The winger has helped his country to within two points of group leaders the Netherlands in their World Cup qualification bid, having also scored in a win over Latvia last month.

And his form for his country has come after a strong start to the season with Southampton, for whom he has scored four goals and notched two assists in six games so far this term.

Elyounoussi joined Southampton from Basel for £16million in 2018, but made just 19 appearances in all competitions in his first campaign at St Mary’s, including just 11 starts.

He was sent out on loan to Celtic for two seasons, scoring 24 goals and registering 12 assists in 67 games for the Scottish Premiership giants.

And his spell in Scotland appears to have revitalised him, judging by his current form.

Elyounoussi is now being eyed by both Arsenal and Leicester as Arteta and Rodgers look to bargain signings, according to The Sunday Mirror.

He has played mainly on the right wing for Southampton this season, although he was deployed as a second striker in the 0-0 draw at home to West Ham last month.

And he has showed his versatility while playing for his country, having featured on the left wing, as an attacking midfielder and in deeper midfield roles.

Elyounoussi starred in the Saints’ 8-0 Carabao Cup win over Newport County back in August, netting a hat-trick and setting up two more goals.

And with his contract set to expire in 2023, Southampton could be tempted to cash in on him next summer, with Transfermarkt valuing him at a cut-price £10.8m.

Arsenal are also targeting Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, according to reports from Spain.

According to reports, Jovic is Arteta’s ‘chosen one’ to replace Alexandre Lacazette, whose contract at the Emirates expires next summer.

Real are ready to let Jovic leave as they look to raise funds for their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland next summer.

He netted 27 goals in 48 games in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 season.

But things haven’t gone to plan since he joined Los Blancos the following summer, and he returned to Frankfurt on loan last season, bagging four goals in eight starts.
