Arsenal fans are in agreement over Gabriel Martinelli’s situation following a training video which the official club Twitter page posted on social media.
The official club account uploaded a short clip of the Brazilian during training where he received the ball on the turn and knocked it past a defender before slotting it in the bottom corner.
Martinelli has only made three appearances for the Gunners since the start of the season while the side struggle to find the net in the Premier League this season.
And supporters of the north London club are frustrated that a player once believed to be the next big thing at the Emirates has played such a limited role under Mikel Arteta.
The 20-year-old started his Arsenal career off in fantastic fashion, scoring 10 goals in 26 appearances during the 2019/20 season.
But injuries and the arrival of manager Arteta have seen him often side-lined with limited minutes – the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Nicolas Pepe all being preferred as wide options.
As such his goal-scoring tally has dwindled with the evidence being that he has only netted two across the last two seasons.
But with the Brazilian winning an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo this summer and fans being reminded of his quality, the Arsenal faithful have made their frustration clear towards his treatment on Twitter.
Do you think Martinelli should be given an extended run in the starting-11 with Aubameyang and Pepe out of form? Let us know in the comments section.
A supporter replied to the video on Twitter with: “Once upon a time Martinelli was going head to head with [Mason] Greenwood, then Arteta happened. Poor Gabi.”
Another Tweeted: “Why are you always doing up Martinelli prop on the training videos? Nice PR.”
One fan simply offered the official club account an ultimatum, saying: “Start him tomorrow or we unfollow."
A fourth said: "Martinelli is in the team only for the admin to drop his training videos every fortnight."
Martinelli could play a part as Arsenal welcome League One side AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening in the Carabao Cup.
