Arsenal have already met with the representatives of Youri Tielemans after inviting the Belgian’s reps to London Colney to discuss a potential transfer, according to reports. The Leicester man, who struck a brilliant winner for the Foxes in last season’s FA Cup final against Chelsea, is now on the radar of the Gunners as they up their efforts to sign a new midfielder.

Tielemans is now in the final 18 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2023.

Leicester remain keen on tying Tielemans down to a new deal but talks have failed to progress with the player and his camp.

The former Anderlecht and Monaco man now has aspirations of playing Champions League football, something Arsenal are hoping to offer next season.

According to Goal, Tielemans is a long-term target for Arsenal, who are now starting to put plans into place to sign the 24-year-old.

The report claims Tielemans’ entourage have already met with Arsenal chiefs at the club’s training ground in the past few weeks.

It’s understood his team are keen to hold discussions over the prospect of a future move to the Emirates Stadium.

Understandably, Tielemans is now starting to consider his future with Liverpool also contenders for his signature.

Back in October, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers denied suggestions that Tielemans had rejected a new contract.

“There’s reports, but there’s (been) no turning down,’ Rodgers said.

“I think there’s just dialogue between the club and Youri’s people. I think the club are waiting to hear back. But that’s something that’s out of my control.

“What I can control is his mentality, his commitment to the team, and you cannot question that.”

Arsenal do want to land a midfielder this month though to bolster Mikel Arteta’s options in the middle of the park.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has also departed to join Roma on loan, while Granit Xhaka has tested positive for COVID-19.

Arsenal have been working on a loan deal to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus.

The Brazilian is rated highly by both Arteta and Edu, have discussed a deal in recent weeks in the Emirates boardroom.

Now club-to-club contact with Juventus has started, with the Bianconeri seemingly willing to do business.

First of all Juventus need to sign a replacement though as Arsenal patiently await a positive outcome.
