Arsenal are reportedly ready to hand a long-term contract to exciting prospect Miguel Azeez, who has been dubbed the ‘new Fabregas’.
18-year-old midfielder Azeez was handed his senior debut as a substitute in the 4-2 win at Dundalk last December.
The England youth international is out of contract in the summer, despite impressing at every age category in the club’s academy system.
And according to the Sun, he is set to be tied down to the Gunners for the long-term as negotiations over his future take place.
Arsenal do not want to lose Azeez on a free transfer, and are hoping they can secure his services as he hits his peak.
Azeez has shown terrific playmaking ability from deep in midfield, using his technique and an eye for goal to make him a threat at all times.
That has led to comparisons with ex-Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas, who also impressed as a teenager with the Gunners.
That’s not necessarily the sort of player that he aspires to be though, having dropped into a more deeper role recently.
And when opening up on the sorts of players he looks up to, as well as Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, there is a more surprising name that comes to Azeez’s mind.
“Sergio Busquets," he said in an interview last year. "I think he has been the best holding midfielder for a very long time.
“He always seems to have space around him, always plays with his head up, one step ahead.
