Arsenal have been set a strict deadline by Lyon to complete the signing of Houssem Aouar.
Aouar is Mikel Arteta's top remaining target ahead of the transfer window closing next Monday – but Lyon want a deal done before then.
The Premier League side have already failed with one bid for the attacking midfielder which Lyon described as "timid".
That was reported to be around £36million – with the Ligue 1 club wanting closer to £54m.
And now Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has told Arsenal to put their money where their mouth is and make an acceptable offer – by Friday at the latest.
The Champions League semi-finalists have signed attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá from AC Milan – which has given the Gunners hope they can land Aouar, as the two play the same position.
But Lyon are expecting to lose at least two players from their squad, having reportedly accepted a bid for midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide from Hertha Berlin – while forward Memphis Depay has been the subject of interest from Barcelona.
And Aulas says the French club want any player sales done and dusted by the end of Friday so they can concentrate on their Ligue 1 campaign without distraction.
“We can see ourself losing two players in the next two days," the Lyon chief said in quotes reported by Get French Football News.

"We wanted to show with Paquetá that we were not dependent on sales. From Friday evening, there will be no departures."
So the clock is ticking for Arsenal – but it's not only the price tag that's an issue, with the Gunners facing competition for Aouar's signature from Juventus, while the France under-21 star has also been linked with Manchester City.
Aulas added: "We know that three big clubs are interested in him. Two in the short-term, one in the long-term. Not much has happened. All the clubs can’t give us financially what Lyon wants."
Aouar is reported to have already agreed personal terms over a move to the Emirates – but now the Gunners have to stump up the cash.
