Arsenal target Locatelli’s worrying comments about potential transfer to Gunners

Arsenal target Manuel Locatelli has spoken out about a potential move to Juventus this summer – failing to mention the Gunners.

Locatelli is attracting attention after producing a string of impressive displays for Italy at Euro 2020, helping Roberto Mancini's men beat England in Sunday's final.

The Sassuolo midfielder has emerged as a top transfer target for Arsenal, with the Italian club's CEO Giovanni Carnaveli recently revealing that an official offer has been made.

However, Mikel Arteta and co face competition for his signature from Juve, who are also understood to be keen on signing him in the summer transfer window.

And speaking about his future after Italy's Euro 2020 triumph, Locatelli insisted he is not thinking about Juve right now – but there was no mention of a potential move to Arsenal.

“I haven't really thought about my next club so far, I was focused on the national team," he told reporters.

"From tomorrow we will see what happens. I support Juventus? Right now we are here for the national team, so I support Italy”.

Locatelli is not the only midfielder being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, as reports suggest a deal for Anderlecht's Albert Sambi Lokonga is close.

Lokonga, 21, is said to be on the verge of sealing a £17million switch to the Emirates, following left-back Nuno Tavares into the club.

Tavares finalised a £7million transfer from Benfica last week, becoming Arteta's first signing of the summer as he plots a squad revamp in north London.
