Arsenal transfer chief Edu identifies next three signings after Thomas Partey deal

Arsenal signed Thomas Partey on transfer deadline day but already have plans for their next three deals, according to reports. Mikel Arteta and Edu are determing to strengthen the Gunners and close the gap on the likes of Liverpool in the Premier League.

As well as Partey, Willian arrived from Chelsea and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed a new contract at the club.

Arsenal had to sell to spend this summer and Arteta still has areas of his team he wants to strengthen.

The Gunners have already started hatching a plan ahead of the January transfer window to make further improvements.

Arteta wants a back-up centre forward and a flexible forward who can play across the front.

Arteta will likely have to sell again to make signings in the January transfer window.

Arsenal transfer chief Edu has opened up on the club’s pursuit of Partey and how they got the deal done on deadline day.

“One day I would like to show the fans how we work, or how we worked because if you saw my plan six or seven months ago when I did it with Mikel, Thomas was there already,” he told Arsenal’s official website.

“So you see how many months we had to try to find the right player for the club.

“So many things to do, so many meetings, we had to see how we were going to buy the player, if we had the financial situation to buy the player, the legal process, the financial process, talk to the player, talk to the agent, so there are a lot of things around this but in the end we did it!”
