Barcelona are confident about signing Erling Haaland in this summer’s transfer window, reports say. The Norway international has been in blistering form for Borussia Dortmund this term. And a move to the Nou Camp could be on the cards at the end of the campaign.

Barcelona want a new striker this summer.

They lost Luis Suarez back in 2020 and are yet to replace the Uruguay international, who was allowed to join Atletico Madrid.

A host of players have been linked with Barcelona as a result, ranging from Andre Silva to Alexander Isak.

Yet Sport say they’re determined to sign Haaland and, what’s more, is the Catalan giants are actually confident of getting him.

The Norwegian has scored a remarkable 31 goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League this term, establishing himself as one of the best strikers on the planet in the process.

And Barcelona believe they stand a chance of bringing the 20-year-old to Catalonia, despite the expensive nature of his signing.

It’s claimed Dortmund will look for a fee of £129million to let their star forward go and are determined to get as much money as possible for him.

Barcelona have been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis and, at present, are looking at ways to fund the transfer.

But they believe they have all the tools required to bring Haaland to the Nou Camp, even if they face strong competition to get the deal done.

Manchester United want Haaland, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regularly calling his compatriot in order to persuade him to move to Old Trafford.

Manchester City see the Dortmund striker as the ideal replacement for Sergio Aguero, who is primed to leave the Etihad Stadium behind at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are big Haaland admirers, too, but Kylian Mbappe is their priority at the current moment in time.

And Chelsea would love to win the race for the Norway international, with Thomas Tuchel deeming him the ideal upgrade on the likes of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, Rafael Yuste poured doubt over a potential deal for Haaland.

“Today, with a debt of 1,173 million, it would be irresponsible to say that we are going to sign Haaland or Mbappe,” he said.

“In addition, we have a squad that can give a lot of joy to the members and a brave coach who bets on young people.

“As we turn around the situation and generate resources, there will be a choice, but now let’s support what we have and see how far we can go.

“Right now we already have the best in the world called Leo Messi.”

Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, has claimed only 10 clubs on the planet have the financial might to land his client.

“It is obvious that everybody is looking at Erling as one of those potential new future stars because it’s so difficult to do what he does at his age at his level,” he said.

“He will be one of the future stars of the next decade because we see that stars such as Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo and Messi are coming to an age where everyone asks themselves: ‘How long can we still enjoy them?’ So everyone is looking for the new generation.

“Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Haaland] and give the platform you would like after you’ve been in Dortmund… and four of those clubs are in [England].

“I don’t think there’s a sports director or trainer in the world who would say ‘not interested’.

“It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?'”

Haaland isn’t Barcelona’s only transfer target.

They want Dutch duo Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum, who look poised to leave Lyon and Liverpool behind.

And they’re confident of landing Manchester City defender Eric Garcia, whose contract at the Etihad is also winding down.
