Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has hit back at the “bull****” claims that Erling Haaland has been set a deadline to decide on his next move.
Haaland has starred for the Black and Yellow since arriving at Signal Iduna Park two years ago, scoring an astonishing 79 goals in 78 games.
That remarkable form has seen him attract a range of potential suitors, with teams such as Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain weighing up moves.
A release clause in his contract is understood to be activated at the end of the season, though Dortmund have frequently stated their belief that they can convince him to stay.
Either way, the Bundesliga giants want a decision to be made quickly, with Haaland claiming they had set him a February deadline to do so.
“Borussia Dortmund are now pushing me to make a decision about things but I just want to play football,” he told Norwegian TV channel Viaplay Fotball.
“That probably means that I will soon have to get things started. Borussia Dortmund have started to put lot of pressure on me.
Which club would be the best for Erling Haaland to join? Let us know in the comments section…
“They want me to decide now and so things will happen now. Even if I only wanted to focus on football and play football.
“I never spoke until now to respect the club. I didn't want to decide my future in January as we have a though period with a lot of matches. I just want to play football, but this is what they ask.”
Haaland’s explosive interview has drawn a furious reaction from Dortmund chief Watzke, who has moved to rubbish the striker’s claims of a deadline being set.

“That one or the other medium writes that BVB would certainly give him an ultimatum, which is total bullshit,” he told ARD.
“Erling was obviously a bit bothered by it, but we can’t influence that. We told him that too.”
Haaland scored Dortmund’s only goal as they were surprisingly dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by second-tier St Pauli on Tuesday, and is set to feature against Hoffenheim on Saturday.
