Jamie Carragher has said he would opt for Jose Mourinho if it was a choice between the Portuguese manager and Pep Guardiola.
Comparisons are often made between the two titan bosses, but there's no doubt nowadays Guardiola has the edge, having led Manchester City to win the Premier League last season with a record points total, while Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United after a string of poor performances last season, and his tenure at Tottenham this campaign has been mixed so far.
But Reds legend Carragher believes the mettle of Mourinho is something that would resonate with him as a player.
When asked whom he would choose in the Sky Sports Football Podcast, the 42-year-old responded: "Probably Jose. I think Mourinho had that real aggression to get a win, and almost win at all costs. Just trying to cross the line.
"I think Jose had that when he was in his pomp when he first came to Chelsea, and they were probably more the type of managers I had, like Gerard Houllier, Rafa Benitez, those influences.
"It was always about making sure we were solid, we were aggressive, we were powerful, and we did everything we could to win."
Carragher was talking about Mourinho in his heyday, when he first came to England having won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, before leading Chelsea to their first Premier League title.
