Chelsea ‘are given deadline of August 28 to finalise move for Kai Havertz as Bayer Leverkusen turn attention to pre-season training… with player desperate to move to Stamford Bridge this summer’
- Chelsea reportedly only have 10 more days to finalise a deal for Kai Havertz
- Bayer Leverkusen want a deal done before they start their pre-season training
- The Germans want £90million, but Chelsea are only willing to pay £70million
Bayer Leverkusen have given Chelsea a deadline of August 28 to complete their move for target Kai Havertz, according to Jan Aage Fjortoft on Twitter.
The Germans are due to begin their pre-season training on August 28, and want to make sure any deal is done before then so they can finalise plans for the upcoming season.
Chelsea are yet to agree a fee with Bayer Leverkusen, but are thought to be the front runners for Havertz’s signature.

He wants to leave the club, so now the two teams will have to agree on a transfer fee
Havertz is also reported to desperately want to leave this summer, so the final hurdle will be for the two teams to agree terms.
Over the weekend, Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO Fernando Carro said that a move is not guaranteed.
The club are thought to be holding out for a £90million transfer, but the Blues are only prepared to pay £70million for the German international.
Chelsea have already sealed deals for attacking duo Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer.
Havertz is one of Europe’s top prospects, and has been valued by Leverkusen at £90million
Havertz is deemed to be one of the top young players in Europe having scored 38 goals in his last 87 matches in all competitions for the German side.
The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks at Leverkusen but his side failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League after a fifth-placed finish in the Bundesliga.
The German club also crashed out against Inter Milan in last week’s Europa League quarter-final to rule out any chances of playing in Europe’s premier club competition.
While the transfer window shuts on October 5, it appears Chelsea only have 10 more days to try and get their man.
