Chelsea had stepped up their efforts to sign Manchester United target Jude Bellingham before the coronavirus pandemic hit.
Football in England has come to a halt and the unprecedented pause midway through the season has seen several moves be put on hold.
Clubs are unclear as to the financial ramifications with Covid-19 causing fixtures to be postponed indefinitely.
But before the country went into lockdown the Blues had held talks with Bellingham's representatives over a potential move to west London.
Chelsea and United are set to go at it for most of the summer with both clubs also eyeing Jadon Sancho.
His current employers, Borussia Dortmund, are another one of the clubs potentially in for Bellingham however, reports the Daily Mail.
The 16-year-old has been a mainstay in the Birmingham team and looks destined for bigger things.
A £30m price tag has been touted with Bellingham already visiting Carrington as United look to convince him to join.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made adding young, homegrown talent a priority which has led to his interested in Sancho as well as Bellingham.
