Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has hailed the signing who is ‘making his life easier’ ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United. The Stamford Bridge side spent in excess of £200million on new recruits in the summer transfer window – but Lampard reserved special praise for a player who arrived for nothing.
Thiago Silva has helped steer Chelsea to a record-breaking run of defensive form since parting company with Paris-Saint Germain in the summer.
The 36-year-old made an embarrassing error on his Premier League debut, gifting West Brom a second goal at the Hawthorns as Lampard’s side had to fight back from 3-0 down to claim a point.
But since then he has shown his class, with Chelsea having kept clean sheets in every game he has played other than the Baggies clash.
And Lampard hailed the experience brought to his his team by the seven-time Ligue 1 title winner.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Blades, the manager said: “My experience of players of his level, particularly when they get towards the end of their career or into his 30s, like he is, and they’ve won a lot, you look at the reasons why and I look at the small reasons.
“And when I see him train, when I see him prepare and the way he approaches a simple training session or detail we’re trying to work on on the training pitch he’s all ears.
“He wants to do the really basic, simple things well.
“I think a lot of great players I’ve played with had those attributes and he certainly has that.
