Chelsea are set to go back in for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa after their initial approach was reportedly turned down by the Italian giants, per reports. The Bianconeri’s poor start to the season has put a number of top clubs on high alert, including Liverpool, with a general feeling that Chiesa can be lured away from Turin if their poor form continues.

Massimiliano Allegri’s return to Juventus was met with optimism thanks to his prior success with the club, but things got off to a poor start.

They have finally notched two consecutive wins after going winless for the first four games of the season, although they had to do it the hard way on both occasions.

Juve are in the process of learning how to cope without Cristiano Ronaldo, who led the league in goals last season with 29.

Without the Portuguese, Chiesa is now one of the club’s heavy hitters and has a great opportunity to step up to the plate.

That also means that his importance to the Italian side has increased significantly, which is why Chelsea’s £86million enquiry was quickly rebuffed according to CalcioMercato.

The report also states that transfer chief Marina Granovskaia will come back with ‘a new assault’ in the coming months, with the January window on the horizon.

Chelsea will have a tough time fending off rival interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich, who are both supposedly tailing the 23-year-old.

Bayern are the juggernauts of German football, while Liverpool will be keen to refresh their ageing front three next summer.

All interested parties will have to battle through tricky circumstances, however, as Chiesa is currently in the midst of a two-year loan spell in Turin.

Juventus have still not exercised their option to buy, although coming to an arrangement would not be impossible.

A similar situation occurred with Cristian Romero this summer who was on loan at Atalanta from Inter Milan, while Tottenham still managed to work out a deal which saw all parties satisfied.

Chiesa’s talents were on full display at Euro 2020, used mainly as a game-changing option from the bench as Italy romped all the way to the trophy.

The youngster would be a breath of fresh air for the Premier League as a hugely exciting winger with bags of passion, talent and resilience.

With Juve in need of a new superstar, however, it will be tough for any club to table a bid tempting enough to take him off their hands.
