Christian Eriksen on Arsenal’s radar as Gunners keen on Brighton ace liked by Liverpool

Arsenal are still interested in making a move for former Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen this January, and could be forced to battle it out with Liverpool for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to reports.

Arsenal are set for a hectic January transfer window after making an appalling start to the season.

The Gunners have made their worst start to a league season in the Premier League era, and are sat in 14th place with just 13 points from ten games.

They have struggled to create chances for their front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Willian, with Aubameyang in particular struggling for form.

Mesut Ozil has been exiled by Mikel Arteta, and is likely to leave either in the January transfer window or next summer on a free.

As a result, the Gunners have been tipped to dip into the transfer market during the January window in order to give Arteta’s side some more creativity.

Eriksen is believed to be one of their top targets, as he appears ready to return to the Premier League and end his Inter Milan nightmare after just 12 months.

The Danish playmaker left Tottenham for the San Siro in the January window of this year for a fee of just £18million, but has failed to find his feet in Italy.

Now, reports suggest they are ready to let him go for just £12m, providing Arsenal with a cheap way of fixing their creativity issues.

Another man they’re said to be interested in is Brighton’s Biossouma, who has captured attention for his impressive performances for Graham Potter’s side.

However, TalkSPORT presenter Alex Crook reports that Liverpool are also watching the 24-year-old.

The Reds will likely lose Georginio Wijnaldum next summer at the end of his contract, and are reportedly eager for a replacement.

Speaking on Thursday, Cook explained: “I know Mikel Arteta is hoping for a busy January and Eriksen is very much on his list of potential targets.

“Arsenal are crying out for some creativity after making their worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

“They’ve never had so few points ten matches into a Premier League campaign.

“The stumbling block here could be how Eriksen himself feels about crossing that north London divide.

“He’s still got a pretty good relationship with Spurs fans, he spent more than six years as a Tottenham player, and it’s not an easy move to make.

“Yves Bissouma is another player who Arteta is a big fan of, but Arsenal are by no means the only big-six club interested.

“Jurgen Klopp is also monitoring that situation as he looks for a replacement for the out-of-contract Gigi Wijnaldum.

“Bissouma is under contract at Brighton until 2023, so next summer would usually be the time when they would start negotiating a potential new deal.”
