Cristiano Ronaldo was once left stunned by the sheer turnout at his Santiago Bernabeu unveiling after signing for Real Madrid.
The forward was signed by Los Blancos from Manchester United for a whopping £80million fee 13 years ago. His arrival in the Spanish capital as arguably the greatest player on the planet was unsurprisingly met with huge fanfare by the local support.
In fact, 80,000 fans turned up at the iconic Bernabeu to see the Portuguese star, then wearing the No.9, in the all-white strip for the first time. The result was that even the usually self-assured Ronaldo was left shocked by the packed out crowd.

Footage of his arrival showed the current Red Devils star being driven to his unveiling in July 2009. Ronaldo appeared slightly on-edge as he saw the masses of people queued outside of the stadium awaiting his appearance.
A stunned Ronaldo could even be heard saying: “This is incredible. Is there going to be a match or not?”

But there was no match scheduled as the nervous Portuguese captain made his way up the Bernabeu tunnel to rapturous applause. He clapped the supporters before delivering an emotional speech where he stated he couldn’t believe the turnout.
He said: “I am just so happy to be here. For me, I have made my childhood dream a reality, which was nothing less than playing for Real Madrid. I didn't expect a jam-packed stadium – this is truly impressive."
He marked his six-year contract with some kick-ups and showboating, before things threatened to get out-of-hand as security had to fend off over-eager supporters from getting to the player.
Spectacularly, Ronaldo delivered on the wild expectations of the Real faithful, winning four Champions League trophies and obliterating their all-time scoring record with 450 goals before finally leaving the club in 2018.
