Cristiano Ronaldo has been photographed modelling Manchester United’s new jersey but the club's caption perfectly sums up the forward’s current situation.
United unveiled their new retro-looking kit for the 2022/23 season to mixed reviews on Friday. The Red Devils have attempted to roll back the years to a more successful era by adding a bold new collar to this year’s jersey, which has unsurprisingly split the fanbase.
The official United website posted several of the clubs biggest stars from the men’s and women’s teams donning the new strip with various upbeat captions. And seen among them was Ronaldo, who has increasingly been linked with a move away this summer.

Some of the captions for United’s other players were: “Fred is a fan of this kit” and “Looking good, Harry Maguire!”
Another read: “We can’t wait to see Jadon Sancho in action in our new shirt.”
But the tone noticeably shifted as the team's top goal-scorer from last season appeared. A serious-looking Ronaldo was snapped standing in front of the scenic Old Trafford stands with the rather blunt caption: “Cristiano Ronaldo models the long-sleeve jersey.”

It may be an indication of the mood at the club towards the legend, who has not travelled with the rest of the squad to Bangkok for their pre-season tour.
Ronaldo failed to return to training this week due to ‘family reasons’, and has reportedly told United he wants to leave this summer.
The club insist the 37-year-old is not for sale and that he has one year remaining on his contract, resulting in a damaging stand-off between United and the Portuguese goal-machine. Red Devils CEO Richard Arnold is now said to be anxious to resolve his immediate future.
Arnold is expected to hold more talks with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes in a bid to find a solution. Ronaldo is understood to want to join a club in the Champions League that can help him win more trophies – and believes United will not be able to help him fulfil his remaining ambitions at club level.
