Cristiano Ronaldo ‘snubs’ Juventus’ crucial Serie A finale in major Man Utd clue

Andrea Pirlo sent shockwaves through Italian football on Sunday evening as Cristiano Ronaldo was named on the bench for Juventus' crucial Serie A clash with Bologna.

The Old Lady need to to get a result this evening to achieve Champions League qualification, and realistically, keep hold of their star man.

But according to Sky Sports Italia, Ronaldo told Pirlo he was 'too tired' to start the game.

This, from a player who has consistently put himself through the ringer to achieve more than almost any other player in football history.

The sensational claims come as speculation persists regarding a shock return to Manchester United this summer.

Reports suggest Ronaldo is ready to walk away from Juventus should they fail to qualify for Europe's premier competition.

United are at the front of the queue, along with French giants PSG, and would surely welcome the 36-year-old back to Old Trafford with open arms.

And the suggestion is that Ronaldo would also be open to the move, with the Red Devils securing Champions League football in recent weeks.

Pirlo, however, insists Ronaldo is 'focused' on Juventus amid speculation he has had enough of life in Turin.

"I see him still in the ‘Bianconero’ jersey and focused,” the former Italian midfielder said in his pre-match press conference.

“He proved it the other night, sacrificing himself because he wanted to win the Coppa Italia. I see him focused on tomorrow, then there’s time to discuss the rest.”

Juventus are just three points behind Atalanta, who take on AC Milan this evening with the two teams sitting second and third in the table respectively.

Napoli are one point ahead of Pirlo's side, occupying fourth spot.

Wins for Milan and Napoli would render Juventus' result obsolete and leave them in the Europa League.

However, should Juventus win and either of those sides lose, they would finish in the top four.
