England could face a huge tie in next year’s World Cup group stage

It is international football's most celebrated event, the World Cup is not that far away.

Qatar will play host to the 2022 event, which will be held from November to December.

Home nations Scotland and Wales have a good chance of securing a place at the event and both of them are seeded for the upcoming playoff draw, which will be crucial to their chances.

England have already qualified, securing their place earlier this week in a 10-0 thrashing of San Marino, the first time they have hit double figures since 1964.

Ten European nations have already qualified for next year's tournament and Wales and Scotland are one of 12 nations competing for the final three places.

So who stands in their way?

When is the playoff draw and who is in it?

Scotland and Wales will both go into the first seeded pot for the draw that takes place on November 26 at 4pm.

This will give them a home advantage in a semi-final, and neither of them can face each other in the semi-final.

They may well face each other in the final, however, as each semi-final will be drawn into one of three pathways.
