Former Manchester United midfielder Chris Eagles has been banned from driving for three months after being found shoeless and drunk at the wheel of his car at 3am.
The 35-year-old was three times over the limit when police found him outside the home of his ex-girlfriend, Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe.
Eagles was also not wearing any shoes when approached in his £70,000 Audi in Broadheath, near Altrincham, back in March.
As well as the three month driving ban, the free agent has been fined £1,250 and been ordered to pay £275 in costs.
He has been without a club since leaving Oldham Athletic in January 2020.
Prosecutor Nick Smart told the court that: "Police received a call to report a potential drink-driver. The defendant was sat in the driver's seat, slumped over the steering wheel."
Eagles was also shoeless in his car, and Manchester JPs heard that he has been seeking help with his drinking since the incident earlier this year.
The midfielder joined the United academy aged 15 in 2000 and went on to make 17 first team appearances for the club, scoring on his Premier League debut against Everton in April 2007.
After four loan spells away from the club in the football league and the Netherlands, he was sold to Burnley in 2008.
Eagles has gone on to play for a further eight clubs in the Championship, League One, League Two and Scotland, including most recently with Oldham.
He has a total of 60 goals in his 423 senior career appearances for 13 different clubs.
