Fans in awe as teenage goalkeeper nutmegs striker in dying moments of match

A young goalkeeper has sent the internet absolutely wild after outrageously nutmegging a striker in the closing stages of a match – with his side holding onto a narrow lead.

Braga U23 star Joao Carvalho went from Loris Karius to Manuel Neuer in an instant, capturing the imagination of supporters around the world – and probably giving his coaches a heart attack too!

With his side leading 2-1 against Rio Ave with 88 minutes on the clock, Carvalho received a innocuous-looking pass from his defender, but took an awful first touch, inviting the opposition striker to rush in and nick the ball.

But under what would have been a mountain of near-instantaneous pressure, Carvalho dummied a clearance, sending the striker flying past him, before reversing back and nutmegging the player as he came looking for afters.

"You must be mental to attempt this on 88 minutes," one fan tweeted in response to the now viral clip.

"Looks like the perfect sort of maniac to replace Ederson in a few years," another wrote, while a third commented: "Insane haha though that keeper couldn't trap a bag of cement it seems."

Others however were less impressed, with one person suggested the stunt didn't make Carvalho a good goalkeeper.

"Bad first touch followed by unnecessary risk move & a giveaway. 'Omg, he is goooood!' People are weird," one user wrote.

Another said: "Why are people praising this? He literally causes his own problem and then gets out of it with a lucky nutmeg. Manager should crucify him for this!"
