Firmino’s new Liverpool mural has Everton detail that fans can’t get enough of

Roberto Firmino's new Liverpool mural has been the setting for a hilarious Everton prank, which fans can't get enough of.

The Brazilian trickster, 31, was given a heroic send-off by supporters after featuring for the final time on the hallowed Anfield turf. Brought into the fray for the final quarter of an hour of Liverpool's clash against Aston Villa, Firmino netted a decisive equaliser which could take the Champions League race down to the final day of the season.

The Reds are hoping arch-rivals Manchester United lose both their remaining fixtures but Jurgen Klopp's side need to capitalise by defeating already-relegated Southampton on the south coast.

Securing a top-four finish would be the perfect way for Firmino to bow out after over 100 goals since his £29m move from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015. The forward has clinched virtually all there is to in England and was serenaded with chants of "Si, Senor" upon the final whistle of Saturday's 1-1 draw.

Reduced to tears by the vociferous noise, the Champions League and Premier League winner was later guided to the site of a bespoke new mural erected at the intersection of Rockfield Road and Anfield Road, which is just a two-minute walk away from the stadium.

However, eagle-eyed supporters were quick to notice an odd addition to the mural with an Everton sticker displaying the motto "Nil Satis, Nisi Optimum" present in a nearby window. The Latin phrase translates as "Nothing but the best is good enough" and was first featured on the Everton badge for the opening day of the 1938/39 season.

Football fans were quick to praise the ingenious thinking from the Everton supporter. "They [Liverpool fans] must be livid that’s on the wall," quipped one fan.

"Unbelievable scenes this," praised a second. "proper housery," commended a third. "Imagine being an Everton fan and having a Firmino Mural on the side of your house," harked a fourth.

"Thoughts and prayers to the Blue who has a Bobby Firmino mural on the side of his gaff," posted a fifth. While a sixth joked: "Evertonians can't catch a break even in their own house."
