Frank Lampard had ‘strained’ relationship with Petr Cech before Chelsea sacking

Frank Lampard and Petr Cech reportedly had a ‘strained’ relationship before the former was sacked as Chelsea boss.

The two Blues legends held different roles at Stamford Bridge with Cech in as technical and performance advisor while Lampard was manager.

Former goalkeeper Cech had also been included in Chelsea’s Premier League squad amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lampard and Cech enjoyed plenty of success while on the pitch together, including winning the Champions League in 2012.

Though it seems that relationship deteriorated with the Telegraph claiming Lampard left Chelsea with a ‘strained relationship’ with Cech.

The report adds that Cech was loyal to director Marina Granovskaia, who has a big say in goings on at the Premier League giants.

Lampard was sacked by Roman Abramovich following a run of poor results, with former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel taking the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard said following his dismissal: "When I took on this role I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club.

"I am proud of the achievements that we made, and I am proud of the academy players that have made their step into the first team and performed so well. They are the future of the club.
