Gabriel Magalhaes LOSES tooth after being elbowed in the face

Gabriel Magalhaes loses TOOTH after being elbowed in the face amid celebrations with David Luiz in his farewell… before Arsenal defender reveals he found it following long search at empty Emirates Stadium

  • David Luiz bid farewell in front of the Arsenal fans after the win against Brighton
  • The Brazilian joined his Gunners team-mates in the centre circle one last time
  • Gabriel Magalhaes was one of the first to hug Luiz, who is leaving next month
  • But Gabriel then indicated he had lost a tooth, leading to a 20-minute search
  • It appeared that went in vain before he posted on Instagram saying it was found

Gabriel Magalhaes lost a tooth on the Emirates Stadium pitch after being elbowed in the face as Arsenal celebrated departing defender David Luiz’s career at the club.

The 23-year-old put in a solid display as the Gunners recorded a 2-0 win over Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season thanks to a double from Nicolas Pepe.

But despite not losing out on many duels in the match, the Brazil international would find himself missing one of his teeth shortly after Mikel Arteta’s squad had met in the centre of the pitch after the game to bid a final farewell to Luiz.

Luiz (centre) will leave Arsenal next month and was given a send-off following the win against Brighton

As Sportsmail exclusively revealed earlier this month, the 34-year-old – who gave an emotional farewell to his team-mates in the dressing room earlier this week – will leave the club when his contract expires next month.

Luiz did not feature against the Seagulls due to a knee injury suffered against Newcastle earlier this month, which proved to be his last game for the club.

And having made his way to his team-mates one last time, Luiz – who joined the Gunners from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2019 – was hugged by Gabriel before the others joined in with the celebrations.

It all seemed like a suitable send-off to one of Arsenal’s most charismatic stars but the players – including the duo’s compatriot Willian – were then laughing for a completely different reason when Gabriel pointed at his teeth, indicating one had been knocked out.

Gabriel spent approximately the next 20 minutes looking for the missing tooth with members of Gunners staff, before looking like he had given up hope and calling it an evening.

But posting on his Instagram story later that evening, Gabriel revealed that all was well, writing: ‘Don’t worry my friends, I found my tooth.’

The incident proved to be a comical end to what had been a hugely disappointing season for Arteta’s men, with the club failing to qualify for Europe for the first time in 25 years following north London rivals Tottenham’s win at Leicester.

Arsenal finished five points better off than last season but failed to improve on finishing eighth in 2019-20, while they were knocked out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage by former boss Unai Emery and his Villarreal side.

That then led to Gabriel hugging him but the laughter then turned towards the 23-year-old as he lost his tooth

Their defence of the FA Cup ended just as it had begun with a third-round defeat at Southampton, while eventual champions Manchester City won 4-1 at the Emirates in their Carabao Cup quarter-final.

The Gunners therefore face a huge struggle to overhaul their squad without the income of qualifying for Europe, but that has not stopped the Gunners from looking at a number of options.

Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma and Sheffield United counterpart Sander Berge have been linked with a move to the Emirates, while Arteta confirmed he would like to retain the services of Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard.

Meanwhile, Luiz is the first of what could be a series of high-profile departures this summer, with the futures of Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette up in the air.

Gabriel however later posted on Instagram revealing that the tooth was indeed found
