Gareth Barry's rash tackle on Jeremy Lynch sent Soccer Aid fans into raptures.
The former England international flew through the F2 Freestyler during the first half of the clash at Old Trafford.
Soccer Aid was returning slightly later than planned this year with the annual clash between England XI and World XI on Sunday.
Lynch was playing for the World XI as coronavirus restrictions prevented as many foreign-based players as normal from entering the country to feature in the game.
And he felt the full force of a Barry tackle towards the end of the first-half.
The recently-retired midfielder mid-timed his tackle and clattered straight into the nimble-footed amateur player.
Lynch was unhurt from the collision, but those on Twitter enjoyed seeing him taken out.
One said: "Gareth Barry just become a cult legend by taking the SWAZ out of Jezza."
Another added: "Arise Sir Gareth of Barry."
While a third said: "Ex pros not having that F2 freestyle guy. No no.."
Soccer Aid, which is being shown on ITV, has raised over £40million for Unicef since its inception.
Former professionals and celebrities come together every year for the game, which is watched by millions around the country.
