Former Tottenham star Jamie O’Hara has admitted that he preferred watching his old side when Harry Kane was not in the squad. It comes after a failed transfer to Manchester City in the summer.
Kane has been told he is doing too much at the moment while Tottenham looked better without him.
That is the opinion of ex-Spurs star O’Hara, who has painfully his old side lose 3-0 twice in a row against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Nuno Espirito Santo started Kane in both matches but the England international looked toothless in attack on both occasions.
It comes after a move to City fell through and it appears the ongoing transfer saga has had an impact on the 28-year-old.
Pep Guardiola was keen on signing Kane over the summer but Tottenham would not even answer their calls.
Spurs chief Levy insisted that the striker was not for sale despite two bids being made over the summer.
And O’Hara has taken aim at Kane, insisting Tottenham looked better when he was out of the squad when Spurs beat City on the opening day of the Premier League season.
“Harry Kane has come back and he’s trying to do everything. For some parts of the game he’s playing as a holding midfielder!
“They are doing too much, we need you to play up front and where things can happen.
“I feel like he’s slowing things down for us a little bit at the minute.
“You can’t criticise him for what he is and what he’s done for the football club, but at the moment he’s not playing very well for us.”
“It’s tough one for me as Harry Kane is Mr Tottenham, in my opinion, but I look at his body language and look at the way he’s playing and he’s not playing very well,” he said.
“I kind of enjoyed Spurs at the beginning of the season when he didn’t play. I know that sounds bad because he is a great player and he is someone who you need in your team, but he’s come back into the team and we can’t win.
“When it was [Steven] Bergwijn, [Lucas] Moura and [Heung-min] Son up front, we sat in, we were composed, we soaked up the pressure and tried to hit teams on the counter attack.
