Arsenal target Houssem Aouar is 'resigned' to accepting the Premier League switch.
The 22-year-old Frenchman has proved to be a valuable asset for Lyon, but their agreement with AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta suggests that they are ready to cash-in on their star playmaker.
Club president Jean-Michel Aulas stated last week that the Gunners had made a ‘timid’ offer for Aouar, but Mikel Arteta’s side look certain to improve on that as the deadline approaches.
Although Arteta has been open about his desire to do business, he is yet to comment on individual targets.
However, French outlet L’Equipe have reported that although Aouar is open to leaving Lyon, he was initially hoping to join Manchester City or Juventus to challenge for Champions League glory.
They add that he has now ‘resigned himself’ to joining Arsenal, and helping them progress.
His parent club are reportedly short of cash after missing out on Champions League qualification, which could also lead to the sales of former Arsenal and Manchester United players Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Memphis Depay.
Aulas said of an initial rejected bid for Aouar: "There was a timid offer.
"We felt like either they didn’t consider the fact that this is a player in the French national team. So it was not an offer that was even susceptible to making us consider a sale."
When asked about his plans after the defeat to Liverpool, Arteta said: "Well we are trying to improve the team.
"There's a week to go, there's a lot of things happening in and out.
"We don't have any news on new players and either with players that might leave the football club.

"It's a week to go, I think it's going to be really busy for other clubs because not much business has been done. Let's see what happens."
Arsenal legend Ian Wright then told Premier League Productions: “It felt like a training game for Liverpool in respect of Arsenal were saying you can try and get out but we will press you.”
Before adding: “From there Arsenal can play but we can’t do that at the moment. That’s why it’s imperative we get Aouar from Lyon.”
