Houssem Aouar has refused to address his future at Lyon as Arsenal prepare a new bid for the midfielder.
Lyon have already rejected a £35 million offer from Arsenal for the 22-year-old and the French club are understood to be holding out for a fee closer to £55m.
Aouar is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s priority target with the Arsenal manager keen to strengthen his midfield before the transfer window closes on October 5.
Aouar is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League, while reports in France have claimed this week that the Gunners have already agreed personal terms with the midfielder.
However, speaking after Lyon’s 1-1 draw with Lorient on Sunday, Aouar agreed to a post-match interview on the condition that he was not asked about his future.
But when asked if the transfer rumours are disturbing the team Aouar, who had just made his 100th league appearance for Lyon, told Canal Plus: ‘No, not at all, it does not disturb anything.
‘It’s on the pitch where we have to improve these things. You have to stop hiding behind that.’
The draw against Lorient has left Lyon with just six points from their opening five Ligue 1 games.
And Aouar admits he has been frustrated by the start his side have made to the new season.
‘We had the ambition to get the three points,’ said the midfielder.
‘We came across a very compact block. As very often, it is difficult to find the loophole against this kind of team.
‘This is what must be worked on and changed as quickly as possible. The start of the season is not up to what Lyon should do. Six points in five games is not enough.’
Meanwhile, Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, has said this weekend that Arsenal are not close to signing Aouar following their latest offer.
‘Arsenal are too far away from Houssem’s value,’ Aulas said.
‘We are counting on him to put in a great display away to Lorient and lead Olympique Lyonnais into the Champions League next year.’
Arsenal also offered Matteo Guendouzi in their bid for Aouar earlier this summer but Lyon are not interested in signing the midfielder.
