Manchester United have been issued with a hands-off warning over Jadon Sancho – as Borussia Dortmund 'need' the winger.
Sancho has been United's top target all summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add more creativity and a greater cutting edge to his attack.
But Dortmund have refused to budge on their £108million valuation, with Red Devils chief Ed Woodward refusing to pay over the odds.
And head coach Lucien Favre has now said joined sporting director Michael Zorc in insisting that Sancho is staying in Germany.
The new Bundesliga season starts this weekend, and Favre said "everyone was happy" to have Sancho at the club after United failed to make an acceptable bid by Dortmund's August 10.
And the 62-year-old said Sancho still had much to improve in his game, with United likely to swoop next summer if they fail to land him before next month's transfer deadline.
"We need him, no question," Favre told told Keystone-SDA . "Everyone was happy that he stayed.
"We don't need to talk long about its qualities – they are enormous. He scores and sets up a lot of goals and can often make all the difference.
"But there are some details that Sancho needs to improve. That is quite normal for a 20-year-old."

Dortmund begin their Bundesliga campaign at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, with Sancho looking to better the 17 goals and 16 assists he racked up last season.
The delay in landing Sancho means Solskjaer may have to look at other options this summer, which include Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic.
The Red Devils boss would prefer to continue his template of signing young, energetic players for his attack, but according to the BBC is willing to draw up short-term solutions.

Bale and Perisic, both 31, would add experience to the squad but are not getting any younger.
However the Old Trafford boss may have no choice but to bring one of them if they fail to agree a fee with Dortmund for Sancho.
