Jadon Sancho ‘told Dortmund he wanted Man Utd transfer’ and club agreed on two conditions

Jadon Sancho reportedly told Borussia Dortmund he wanted to join Manchester United this summer and the Bundesliga club agreed to let him go on two terms, which have still not been met. It again reiterates that Dortmund are willing to do business with United on the right terms but the Red Devils may have left it too late to conclude a deal.

As for as Dortmund are concerned, Sancho will now stay at the club but should United table the £108million valuation it could see the player push for a move.

Sancho was left at home for the DFL-Supercup defeat to Bayern Munich due to a respiratory infection, despite testing negative for COVID-19.

While fans speculate it is linked to his future, Dortmund are increasingly confident that the 20-year-old is going nowhere in the next few days.

Sancho is focused on the season ahead with Dortmund but his preference is to complete a move to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports man Dharmesh Sheth claims the player and his entourage were clear with Dortmund earlier this summer that he would like to join United should the opportunity arise.

Dortmund are said to have agreed, permitting United satisfied their demands during negotiations. Something they failed to do.

“I’m told today that Sancho and his representatives made it clear well before August 1 that he wanted to take on the challenge of playing and joining Manchester United,” Sheth said on The Transfer Show.

“Dortmund’s response was they would consider allowing him to leave with two conditions.

Man Utd transfer clause written into Luis Suarez’s Barcelona contract emerges

“Firstly, if United bid £108million and secondly, if the bid came in before August 1. That deadline was then extended to August 10.

“We know that United did eventually bid this week but they did not meet either of Borussia Dortmund’s conditions.

“United’s initial offer was £73million upfront plus add-ons but it was rejected.”

Sheth then confirmed Sancho’s illness is genuine and as things stand, he is focused on the task ahead with Dortmund.

Premier League done deals: Every confirmed transfer in the summer window so far

“Two things to clear up here. Some have questioned the timing of Sancho’s respiratory illness this week, coming in the same week as a Manchester United bid came to light,” he added.

“I’m told this was simply a coincidence, secondly another question being asked is why did Sancho not agitate for a move once United’s bid came in?

“Simple, the bid was rejected out of hand by Dortmund. Again there were two reasons for this.

“The guaranteed payment was £35m short of what Dortmund’s valuation was, that’s the main reason why there was nothing for Jadon Sancho to agitate for.

“The bid came 50 days after Dortmund’s deadline for a deal to be agreed. As far as Sancho is concerned, he is focused on playing for Borussia Dortmund.”
