Jose Mourinho has offered Dele Alli a route back into his plans at Tottenham after the Spurs boss insisted that he ‘needs’ the midfielder more than ever after his deadline day move to PSG fell through.
Alli, who has not started a Premier League game since the opening day of the season, has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and was heavily linked with a loan move to the French champions in the January window.
However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly rejected three bids from the French club now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, leaving Alli facing another six months on the sidelines.

However, following a positive meeting with Mourinho on Tuesday, Alli could now be offered a route back into the Portuguese’s first-team plans for the second half of the campaign.
‘He needs to recover from his injury, return to training and have a fresh start,’ Mourinho told reporters on Wednesday. ‘Because last week he couldn’t even train – so that’s the most important thing.
‘I had a good conversation with him yesterday, we spoke around this question that you asked me and I think we found very common ground. It’s an important period of the season for the team and for him also. We need him. We need a good Dele Alli.
‘We are just waiting for him to be back to a good normality.

Alli has not featured for Spurs since their FA Cup fourth-round win over Marine last month
‘Dele, Kane, Lo Celso, we’re talking about players that without all three we miss a little creation, some magic around the attacking areas.
‘We had a conversation. Of course a conversation doesn’t put a player in great form but hopefully the motivation he needs to be back for the team.
‘We are in the Europa League, the Premier League and the FA Cup although I don’t believe he’ll be back for that.
‘I think when he’s physically ready he’ll be in a good frame of mind.’
The 24-year-old is currently out injured with a calf injury and has not featured since Spurs’ 5-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Marine last month.
The England international is unlikely to feature against Chelsea on Thursday night and will be given time to recover before returning to training this week.

And while Alli looks set to return in the coming weeks, Mourinho revealed that he could have talisman Harry Kane back a little sooner than expected.
When asked for an update on Kane, Mourinho revealed: ‘Good progress. We are happy with the progress. We were a bit scared when everything happened; but now we are a lot more happy.’
Mourinho claimed the forward could be back to face Everton in the FA Cup fifth round on February 10th, while a return against Manchester City on the 13th is more likely.
