Jose Mourinho ready to raid Man Utd for duo he signed at Old Trafford

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is ready to raid his old club Manchester United for two players that he signed when in charge.

The Special One returned to Italy in the summer and moved to the capital shortly after being sacked as Tottenham manager.

Three ill-fated spells in the Premier League have done little to whet his appetite for management, jumping straight back into the hotseat.

And the Portuguese coach wasted no time bringing in his own transfers, signing countryman Rui Patricio from Wolves and Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.

But Mourinho is not done yet and has eyed two players he knows very well from his time at United – because he originally bought them.

According to Italian outlet Il Romanista, Diogo Dalot is being primed for a move to Rome.

The Portugal international was signed by Mourinho at United in 2018 but failed to make much of an impression in the first-team, though the coach was always praiseworthy of his compatriot.

Roma signed right-back Bryan Reynolds in the summer after an initial loan but the American has made just one appearance this season

The second United star Mourinho is after is Victor Lindelof, report The Sun, another export during his three years in charge at Old Trafford.

The Sweden international is no longer first-choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Harry Maguire the captain and the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer.

Lindelof is being eyed by Mourinho because of what he has perceived a soft defence, which could spell danger for another of his old players in Chris Smalling.

Roma were recently thrashed by Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League – a 6-1 defeat that was the worst result of Mourinho’s career.

It led to the manager, who last won the Treble when coaching in Italy with Inter Milan, to take shots at his team, saying: “We have a very good team, we don't have a very good squad.

"Today, we didn't play with the team, we played with the squad, and we were punished by that.”
