Kai Havertz ‘regrets’ Chelsea transfer after choosing Blues over Bayern Munich

Kai Havertz reportedly regrets his summer transfer to Chelsea with the German midfielder having struggled in the Premier League.

Havertz moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen with fellow Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich having also been interested in a deal.

Havertz has scored just once in the Premier League this term after completing a move believed to be worth around £90m.

Though SportBILD claim that the 21-year-old is kicking himself for choosing the Blues over Bayern.

It’s reported Havertz is regretting not paying attention to Bayern Munich’s interest in the summer, instead choosing Chelsea due to the wages offered.

Havertz is currently on a run of seven league games without a goal or assist, with Chelsea boss Frank Lampard dropping him as a result.

Lampard has urged patience over Havertz, saying: "In the modern day, there is going to be criticism for every player of every club who loses a game.

"We should be patient with Havertz from a Chelsea end because he is a top-quality talent who has come into this league.

"He can play in any position across the front three and he has played on the right countless times before he played for Chelsea.

"But we have to be patient, particularly with any young player playing in the speed of the Premier League.

"People who want to jump on to criticise (should) just wait and give a young player time. I know the player that Kai Havertz is going to be."

Chelsea end 2020 sixth in the Premier League having taken 26 points from their first 16 matches of the season.

They sit seven points behind leaders Liverpool with the Blues scheduled to take on Manchester City on Sunday.
