Kamara remembers iconic missed red card in Government Christmas party comparison

Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara has mocked Boris Johnson by comparing the Prime Minister's Christmas party blunder to his infamous red card mishap.

Johnson has come under fire this week after reports alleged that several Christmas parties were held by the government last year – despite the country being under strict lockdown rules.

Johnson was unconvincing in his denial of the stories this week – even though one was said to have taken place in his own flat.

And football hero Kamara took the opportunity to poke fun at Johnson after a fan compared the Prime Minister's denial to Kamara's infamous Sky Sports gaffe from over a decade ago.

The fan tweeted: “There’s been a big Christmas party in your house Boris Johnson," before linking to the video of Kamara looking bewildered after missing a red card in the match from 2010.

And Kamara saw the funny side, replying to the tweet with: "No,your right I saw them going in but I thought it was just a meeting" followed by a couple of laughing emojis.

Kamara became an overnight hit after his hilarious reaction to the incident in the Premier League clash between Portsmouth and Blackburn over a decade ago.

After being asked by host Jeff Stelling about a red card for Pompey, Kamara admitted with a bewildered look on his face that he'd missed the incident – much to the amusement of the pundits in the Sky Sports studio.

What do you think is Kamara's best moment – is it the Portsmouth incident? Let us know in the comments section.

Kamara opened up to talkSPORT last year to mark the tenth anniversary of his Fratton Park fumble.

And he admitted that his honesty served him well that day.

“Well, Avram Grant was stood on the touchline and so I presumed because there had been a few goals going in, and obviously I have to turn my back to the game to speak to the camera," recalled Kamara.

“Charlie Nicholas had shouted goal, Phil Thompson had shouted goal, so Carly Bassett, Dave Bassett’s daughter, who was the link between me and Jeff said ‘right it’s you now Kammy’.

“When Jeff mentioned a sending off I didn’t have an absolute clue. There’s two ways to go in that situation. You either lie through your back teeth or you tell the truth.

“By telling the truth, I got away with it.”
